The Cast:

Christine Quintana as Veronica Sawyer

 

Christine is an actor, playwright, and co-Artistic Producer of uber-indie theatre company Delinquent Theatre. As an actor, Christine has played in Saint Joan, She Stoops to Conquer, and the LEAP Reading Series (Arts Club), The Glass Menagerie (Fire Escape Co-op) Mr. Marmalade (Latchkey Co-Op), Of Mice and Men (Hardline Productions), The Wizard of Oz and Seussical (Carousel Theatre), RENT (FCP), and The Madonna Painter and Wild Honey (Theatre at UBC).  Christine’s plays include Selfie (commissioned by Théâtre la Seizième, premiered in March 2015, winner of the Sidney Risk Prize for Outstanding Script by an Emerging Playwright), Our Time, and Stationary: A Recession-Era Musical (toured to Talk is Free Theatre and the Cultch in April 2015, winner of the Jessie Richardson Theatre Award for Outstanding Musical, Small Theatre) for which she also served as producer and performer.  Christine co-created The Story of You and Me with collaborator Scott Button for Hive 3: The New Bees. Christine is Artistic Apprentice with the Electric Company Theatre, Marketing & Operations Coordinator with Neworld Theatre, and the Program Assistant for the LEAP Program at the Arts Club. She holds a BFA in Acting from the University of British Columbia and is dedicated coffee drinker and animal lover.

Synthia Yusuf as Heather Chandler  

 

After taking a couple years off to pursue professional wine-drinking, Synthia is very excited to be back in the play business, and even more excited to be a part of the Heathers cast! She'd like to thank her friends and family for their love and support, and for laughing at her jokes. Favourite credits: Pilar in Legally Blonde: The Musical, and Evelyn in The Girl in the Frame. Nhi Do as Heather Duke    

 

A triple threat performer originally hailing from Victoria, British Columbia, Nhi Do is an actress, producer and director. Nhi swiftly crossed over from the stage to film and television upon her arrival to Vancouver and soon found herself in a variety of productions including Watchmen, the award-winning Mulligans and Stranger with My Face. Recent projects include the original play, Patch by NOW! Theatre, Luchagore Production's short, Feliz Cumpleanos (part of the Soska Sister's Women in Horror Massive Blood Drive 2015 PSA), OUTtv's first transgender sitcom, The Switch and Hallmark's The Magic Stocking. In addition to acting, Nhi has a BA in English Literature with a minor in Film Studies and has recently completed the Summer Training Congress at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. When not acting, Nhi teaches and coaches several students while co-hosting and directing a talk/variety webseries called Dog's Breakfast.

                                                                   

 

 

Steffanie Davis as Martha Dunnstock 

 

Over a year ago Steffanie listened to the soundtrack and fell in love with Heathers: The Musical. Steffanie is an alumna of the Capilano University Musical Theatre program and won the 2012 Outstanding Newcomer Ovation award. Credits include: Kris/Speaker in The Best Laid Plans: a Musical, Stella in Darling (Springboard Performance), Enid in Legally Blonde, Charlotte Cardoza in Titanic, Bye Bye Birdie (TUTS), Assassins (Pipedream), Jan in Grease (Footlight Theatre) and Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly (Exit22).

Nelson Wong as Ram’s Dad / Big Bud Dean / Ensemble

 

New Zealand-born actor, Nelson Wong, was a regular on Here TV's Donald Strachey Mystery Series, playing Kenny Kwon, the detective's trusty sidekick, has appeared in several TV movies including a lead role as Detective Jeff Wong in Lifetime TV's My Silent Partner and as State's Prosecutor Richard Lee on Secret Liaisons (Movie Central). He has also appeared on such shows as Fringe (FOX), The L Word (Showtime), Psych (USA), and jPod (CBC), and portrayed the twisted Dr. Black in the hit horror feature American Mary (Screamfest’s Best Picture 2012-Twisted Twins Productions).  Currently he can be seen in CBC’s spy drama The Romeo Section. On stage Nelson has worked closely with playwright C.E. Gatchalian, originating the characterizations of Jeff and Chang Hyun for his world premieres of Broken (2006), and Falling In Time (2011), respectively-now available in book form. He is also a proud member of the improv comic troupe The Bobbers, and the sketch comedy group, Assaulted Fish.

Ken Overbey as Kurt’s Dad / Veronica’s Dad / Principal Gowan / Choreographer

 

Ken has worked as a performer and choreographer all over the world. Selected performance credits include performing West Side Story in the West End, six years working with Disneyland Entertainment, Confessions of the Other Woman (Playhouse) in the Red Rock Diner and Dreamgirls Canadian Tours. Ken spent three years as the resident choreographer with the Gateway Theatre, and seven years as resident choreographer for DSR Productions. Recent choreography credits include Evil Dead (Norman Rothstein Theatre), Eva Cassidey Tribute (Key Meeks Theatre/Evergreen Theatre) The Unsinkable Molly Brown (Golden West Theatre) and Smokey Joe’s Cafe (Colony Theatre).

             

 

 

 

 

 

Matt Montgomery aBitter Geek / Ensemble

     

 

Matt Montgomery is a recent graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria BC. Born in Edmonton Alberta, Matt  spent his childhood moving around BC until he came to Vancouver to pursue his love for Musical Theatre. He is very excited to be a part of Heathers! Some of his recent credits include "Luke" in the Vancouver Fringe production of The OC the Musical, and "Jonathan" in Excavation Theatre's The Old Haunt.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Daren Dyhengco as Preppy Stud /J.D. Understudy / Ensemble    

 

Daren is thrilled to be part of Frolicking Divas’ production of Heathers: The Musical. Daren is also a recent grad of Capilano University’s Musical Theatre Program. He is very humbled to be given the chance to be the dance captain, an understudy and a swing for this production. Past credits include Albert in The Secret Garden (Exit 22), Ensemble in Hairspray (TUTS) and Brother in The Good Person of Setzuan (Exit 22). He would like to thank the producers, his director, his friends, and as always the never-ending support of his family.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brent Hirose as Hipster Dork / Officer McCord / Ensemble

     

Brent Hirose is an actor, writer, improviser, director and voice over artist based in Vancouver, BC. A graduate of the University of Winnipeg Film and Theatre program, he spent the first decade of his career in the prairies where he co-founded the indie theatre company Theatre by the River and the improv troupe The Horrible Friends. He is well known on the Canadian Fringe Festival circuit as a touring performer with dozens of productions under his belt including many hit one man shows. Since moving to Vancouver, he has become a company member and instructor with Instant Theatre, and can be seen regularly performing improv and comedy all over the Vancouver area. He is also an active member of the local fandom community, performing regularly with West Coast Geeks vs Nerds and co-hosting the weekly Huge Nerds Podcast. Past theatre credits include A Few Good Men (RMTC/Citadel), The Paperbag Princess and More (PTE), Billy Bishop Goes to War, Saint Joan (Theatre by the River) and Miss Saigon (Rainbow Stage).

                 

 

Vivian Full as New Wave Girl / Ensemble 

 

Vivian is excited to be making her theatrical debut in Vancouver at the York Theatre. Passionate about the arts, Vivian has worked professionally in film/television and stage in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Her most recent credits include DC Comics's Legends of Tomorrow, Ties That Bind and Heartland. Vivian has garnered numerous awards and nominations over the years, including an upcoming Joey Award nomination (2015) and winner for Best Actress at the AirTV Awards in Scotland (2014). Vivian received her professional training in drama, music and dance from the world-renowned Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in the U.K. and the Interlochen Arts Academy in the U.S. Vivian hopes everyone enjoys Heathers: The Musical!

Deanna Rayne as Young Republicanette / Ensemble

 

Deanna is a singer-songwriter, actor, dancer, and producer. Her work ranges from acting in offbeat Fringe-esque theatre shows, to writing soulful ballads, and performing sultry jazz tunes with her band. Throughout her career Deanna has performed at a variety of events and venues most notably at the Vancouver Fringe Festival, The Ignite Theatre Festival, and at the Coastal Jazz Festival. In collaboration with the “Ethnic Sisters” Deanna recently launched a risqué and satirical blog depicting the experiences of her and three other 20 something year old women living life in the city. This summer Deanna released her second single “The Fire” and an acoustic version of her next single “To See You” is set for release later this year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

David C. Jones - Director

 

David C. Jones has worked on everything from classic’s like Moliere’s The Learned Ladies and Sophocles’ Electra, to modern works like EcoDiva, Stop:Kiss, Poor Superman and the Jessie nominated musical Ruthless!, improvised shows like The Gay Mafia and Twisted Anne of Green Gables and concert musicals like On the 20th Century and Wish You Were Here. David has also created and directed numerous corporate productions, charity fundraisers and trade shows using his wealth of theatrical training and experiences to help create spectacular spectaculars. He was Entertainment Manager of the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games. He also makes short films and the last one won a couple of awards. He is honoured and humbled that The Sister of Perpetual Indulgence granted him sainthood as “Sir David of the Infinite Giggle” in 2011. In 2014 he received the Legacy Award in Arts from Pride Vancouver. Well he is not that humbled because he put it in his bio but he is honoured. Michael Brooks - Stage Manager

 

Michael was born in a one room log cabin in the nether lands of New Brunswick and was raised by a Moose and a Squirrel. No, not really. But he was born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick where he heard the call of the boards. Moving to Vancouver in the mid 90’s with stars in his eyes and the idea of becoming an actor. Michael quickly realized his real talents were in the area of Stage Management and Technical Direction. Michael pursued this new passion and has toured all over British Columbia and has managed shows across Canada. Michael most recently survived Aliens and Zombies during a successful run of Virtual Stage’s  Alien Contagion: Rise of the Zombie Syndrome.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sarah Mabberley - Set Designer

 

Sarah, a Studio 58 graduate, and Sam Payne Award recipient at the 2015 Jessie Awards, has been working behind the scenes for the last 10 years in music, theatre, film and TV. Recent Credits include set designing; Glengarry Glen Ross (Classic Chic), A Doll’s House (Slamming Door), Grease (Collingwood), The Last 5 Years (Lion Fish), stage managing; Kosmic Mambo (Studio 58), Private Lives (United Player), In A Forest Dark and Deep (Naked Goddess), Lascivious Something (Firehall), 3…2…1… (Speakeasy), The After Party Girls saga, Deer Harper and a variety of original works presented at the Edmonton and Winnipeg Fringe Festivals, 4Play at Studio 58 and Shift Festival in which she was also this years production manager. Her love of music has also carried over into sound design (Grease, Macbeth, A Doll’s House and her solo show Live Forever). “Dear Diary, Cast and Crew: My teen angst bullshit now has a body count.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bronwen Smith - Producer

 

Bronwen is an actor, teacher and producer. She teaches acting at SchoolCreative and she co-produced the short film Wendy 1968, The Final Draught Script Reading Series, and was an associate producer of Classic Chic's production of Glengarry Glen Ross. Her stage acting credits include: Vincent River (Osimous Theatre), Problem Child (Squidamisu Theatre), Twelfth Night (What You Will Equity Co-op), and ‘Night, Mother (The Good Company Collective). On screen credits include: Legends of Tomorrow, The Killing, A Girl’s Best Friend, Smallville, Gunless, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days and the indie thriller Skyquake.
